A wildfire burned down two structures and was threatening more than 50 others in the small eastern Pinal County community of Kearny. The Simmons Fire, which broke out Tuesday, has burned 475 acres with zero containment. Read more about the fire.

In Casa Grande, for the second consecutive year, Lucid Motors will be undergoing a significant round of layoffs. But, unlike the one that took place in 2023, this year’s cuts will not affect the Casa Grande plant in a dramatic way.

Plus, the Coolidge-Florence Elks Lodge won “Lodge of the Year” at a convention and handed out scholarships during a special awards night event. At the 2024 Arizona Elks Association Convention in Tempe, Lodge 2350 leaders proudly accepted the award on behalf of its members on May 11.
