I first got involved in public service to ensure that all Americans, regardless of personal circumstances, have the opportunity to succeed. My decision to run for office was inspired in large part by my advocacy to ensure that my son Ben, who experiences severe disabilities, and other kids like him would have the same opportunities as their peers.

I ran for office to make a difference for as many people who needed my help as I could. That’s the spirit I’m asking you to embrace by joining my team today.

Serving Granite Staters as State Senator, Governor, and now U.S. Senator has been the honor of my life. But it wasn’t an easy road to get here.

In 2016, I won by only 1,017 votes in one of the closest Senate races in history. Now, as we look to 2022, Republicans only need to flip one seat to take control of the Senate and I’m at the top of their list of targets. A leaked Supreme Court document has all but confirmed the worst case for the reproductive justice movement. If this leaked decision holds, Roe v. Wade will soon be overturned. People will die as a result. And now, we wait for the Court’s decision in the most important gun safety case in over a decade—NYSRPA v. Bruen—where a bad decision could weaken gun laws and allow more guns in more places. Together, these two rulings could lead to more senseless, preventable suffering and death—particularly for people in marginalized communities. This work can be tiring and frustrating, but it must be done. And if we’ve learned anything over the past decade, it’s that elections matter. The midterm elections are just 188 days away. Channel your anger into action: Join our election team to help protect our most basic rights. If the Supreme Court is going to strike down our rights and protections, it will be up to the states to respond to keep us safe. We need to start working now to mitigate any damage that comes from the courts—and that begins by electing gun sense lawmakers up and down the ticket. The leaked document shows the Supreme Court could call into question the constitutional right to privacy—which protects not only abortion access, but also marriage equality and birth control access. Nothing is off the table with this Supreme Court. This is the court the gun lobby has always wanted. In just a few weeks, the Supreme Court could deliver the gun lobby a victory that puts it closer than ever to seeing through its dystopian vision of guns everywhere, for everyone. We know how to win these fights—and it’s people like you who give me hope that we will win. From abortion access to gun safety, we have work to do in state houses across the country.
