Our LGBTQ youth need our help

Hi Peter, Pride month is a time to celebrate the beauty and diversity of the LGBTQ community, but it’s also a time to reflect on what more we can do to ensure everyone gets the support they need. It’s no secret that our country’s youth are in a mental health crisis. For LGBTQ youth, this crisis is even worse. Our partners at Trevor Project have been focusing on suicide prevention efforts for LGBTQ youth since 1998. Their new national survey reveals an upward trend in suicidal thoughts and high rates of anxiety and depression among LGBTQ youth. We all must come together to foster acceptance and end this mental health crisis. If we are able to provide this help in all K-12 schools, then we will be able to help LGBTQ youth across the country. Our LGBTQ youth need access to school mental health resources, yet most go without. Can you help us improve mental health resources for our youth by taking action? SUPPORT KIDS There are a lot of concerning mental health statistics for LGBTQ youth. It’s not because young people don’t want help: According to the Trevor Project, 60% of LGBTQ youth who wanted mental health care in the past year were just not able to get it. LGBTQ support and resources are crucial for young people and are essential to their mental health. The Trevor Project’s data also shows that queer youth who found their school to be LGBTQ-affirming reported lower rates of attempting suicide. These statistics say a lot. While young people are struggling, the solution is in our schools. Providing a safe, affirming environment and the mental health supports youth need is critical for their well-being. Even though the answer is in front of us, many states still lack important mental health resources in their schools. Dear Rj, Last week, I attended the White House bill signing ceremony for the bipartisan reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act – landmark legislation that I cosponsored and have championed since arriving to Congress nearly a decade ago. The renewal of the Violence Against Women Act boosts funding for programs protecting Arizona women and families, preventing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking while improving access to essential support services such as health care and safe housing for survivors. Since the Violence Against Women Act expired in 2019, I’ve been working across the aisle to build support for survivors and ensure law enforcement – including Tribal authorities – have the tools needed to crack down on abusers. I’m incredibly proud we came together in a bipartisan way and signed our bill into law. I’m especially proud of our work to successfully include provisions giving Tribal governments new tools to protect Indigenous women and families across our state. In a particularly big win for tribal communities, tribal justice systems will now have the authority to crack down on domestic violence committed on tribal lands by non-Native individuals, and increased resources to protect tribal members from sexual assault and stalking. If we let America slip through our fingers, if…

Men, like nations, think they’re eternal. What man in his 20s or 30s doesn’t believe, at least subconsciously, that he’ll live forever? In the springtime of youth, an endless summer beckons. As you pass 70, it’s harder to hide from reality.

Nations also have seasons: Imagine a Roman of the 2nd century contemplating an empire that stretched from Britain to the Near East, thinking: This will endure forever. Forever was about 500 years, give or take. France was pivotal in the 17th and 18th centuries; now the land of Charles Martel is on its way to becoming part of the Muslim ummah.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the sun never set on the British empire; now Albion exists in a perpetual twilight. Its 95-year-old sovereign is a fitting symbol for a nation in terminal decline.

In the 1980s, Japan seemed poised to buy the world. Business schools taught Japanese management techniques. Today, its birth rate is so low and its population aging so rapidly that an industry has sprung up to remove the remains of elderly Japanese who die alone.

I was born in 1949, almost at the midpoint of the 20th century, the American century. America’s prestige and influence were never greater. Thanks to the Greatest Generation, we won a World War fought throughout most of Europe, Asia and the Pacific. We reduced Germany to rubble and put the rising sun to bed. It set the stage for almost half a century of unprecedented prosperity. We stopped the spread of communism in Europe and Asia and fought international terrorism. We rebuilt our enemies and lavished foreign aid on much of the world. We built skyscrapers and rockets to the moon. We conquered Polio and now COVID. We explored the mysteries of the Universe and the wonders of DNA, the blueprint of life. But where is the glory that once was Rome? America has moved from a relatively free economy to socialism, which has worked so well NOWHERE in the world. We’ve gone from a republican government guided by a constitution to a regime of revolving elites. We have less freedom with each passing year. Like a signpost to the coming reign of terror, the cancel culture is everywhere. We’ve traded the American Revolution for the Cultural Revolution.

The pathetic creature in the White House is an empty vessel filled by his handlers. At the G-7 Summit, “Dr. Jill” had to lead him like a child. In 1961, when we were young and vigorous, our leader was too. Now a feeble nation is technically led by the oldest man to ever serve in the presidency. We can’t defend our borders, our history (including monuments to past greatness) or our streets. Our cities have become anarchist playgrounds. We are a nation of dependents, mendicants, and misplaced charity. Homeless veterans camp in the streets while illegal aliens are put up in hotels.

The president of the United States can’t even quote the beginning of the Declaration of Independence (“You know, The Thing”) correctly. Ivy League graduates routinely fail history tests that 5th graders could pass a generation ago. Crime rates soar and we blame the 2nd Amendment and slash police budgets. Our culture is certifiably insane. Men who think they’re women. People who fight racism by seeking to convince members of one race that they’re inherently evil, and others that they are perpetual victims. A psychiatrist lecturing at Yale said she fantasizes about “unloading a revolver into the head of any white person”. We slaughter the unborn in the name of freedom, while our birth rate dips lower year by year. Our national debt is so high that we can no longer even pretend that we will repay it one day. It’s a $30-trillion monument to our improvidence and refusal to confront reality. Our “entertainment” is sadistic, nihilistic and as enduring as a candy bar wrapper thrown in the trash. Our music is noise that spans the spectrum from annoying to repulsive.

Patriotism is called insurrection, treason celebrated, and perversion sanctified. A man in blue gets less respect than a man in a dress. We’re asking soldiers to fight for a nation our leaders no longer believe in. How meekly most of us submitted to Fauci-ism (the regime of face masks, lock downs and hand sanitizers) shows the impending death of the American spirit.

How do nations slip from greatness to obscurity? Fighting endless wars, they can’t or won’t win. Massive debt far beyond their ability to repay. Refusing to guard their borders, allowing the nation to be inundated by an alien horde. Surrendering control of their cities to mob rule. Allowing indoctrination of the young. Moving from a republican form of government to an oligarchy. Losing national identity. Indulging indolence. Abandoning faith and family, the bulwarks of social order.

In America, every one of these symptoms is pronounced, indicating an advanced stage of the disease. Even if the cause seems hopeless, do we not have an obligation to those who sacrificed so much to give us what we had?

I’m surrounded by ghosts urging me on: the Union soldiers who held Cemetery Ridge at Gettysburg, the battered bastards of Bastogne, those who served in the cold hell of Korea, the guys who went to the jungles of Southeast Asia and came home to be reviled or neglected. This is the nation that took in my immigrant grandparents, whose uniform my father and most of my uncles wore in the Second World War. I don’t want to imagine a world without America, even though it becomes increasingly likely. During Britain’s darkest hour, when its professional army was trapped at Dunkirk and a German invasion seemed imminent, Churchill reminded his countrymen,

“Nations that go down fighting rise again, and those that surrender tamely are finished.” The same might be said of causes. If we let America slip through our fingers, if we lose without a fight, what will posterity say of us? While the prognosis is far from good, only God knows if America’s day in the sun is over.

	Dear Friend: I am writing to give you an update on what has been going on in Congress and the state of the union almost halfway through 2022. INFLATION First, inflation is killing us at the grocery store, the hardware and lumber stores, the gas stations, and everywhere else.   We are at a record 40-year high for inflation. The Labor Department said that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods including gasoline, groceries, and rents, rose 8.3% in April from a year ago.  The former Federal Reserve Bank President, Charles Plosser, stated recently that the inflation was caused by poor government polices—meaning, the government is simply spending too much and printing too much money. I predicted this happening, which is why I voted against many of the wasteful trillion-dollar spending bills that were reckless and unnecessary. It is why I have supported a balanced-budget amendment, to get our spending under control. OPEN BORDERS—AN INVASION ON THE SOUTHERN BORDER This headline says it all: “Illegal immigration soars under Biden to third-highest in 97 years”2 Our border is wide open, and our country is now suffering great economic harm from millions of new illegal aliens (on top of the over 20 million illegal aliens already here).  These illegal aliens use our medical services, hospitals, schools and welfare benefits, costing all of us billions of dollars.   Further, many work “under the table” and keep wages low and unemployment for citizens high. Worse, they are bringing lethal drugs and sex trafficking.  In 2021, 105,000 American citizens were poisoned to death by Mexican fentanyl brought into our country with the open border.  This is a crisis bigger than anything else facing our country.  As I have said before, the number of Americans killed by Russia in 2021: 0.  The number of Americans killed by Mexican fentanyl in 2021: 105,000.  Our national problem is not with Russia or Ukraine.  It is with Mexico and our open border. I have supported impeachment proceedings against Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas, who is responsible for the open border along with Mr. Biden.   I have sponsored a bill to impose a 10-year moratorium on all immigration.  Until we get control of our border, and deport the millions of illegal aliens, we should not be importing anyone from anywhere. UKRAINE I have been one of a few voices in Congress opposing the war in Ukraine, and opposing the United States from sending money, weapons and troops to support Ukraine.  Ukraine is not a U.S. ally.  It is an authoritarian socialist regime.  The current president was installed by an illegitimate coup, backed by the Obama Administration in 2014.  So far, Congress has sent $62 billion in aid to Ukraine.  I have voted against every dime. That money should be spent here in the U.S. if it is to be spent.   For example, we could provide security entrances and armed guards at every school in this country for far less than the $62 billion we sent to Ukraine.  While our own children go to schools with little or no protection from lunatics, our money goes overseas. This is immoral and I intend to change that. ABORTION There is some good news from D.C.  A leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court suggest that the infamously awful decision in Roe v. Wade may be finally overturned.  Legal scholars and others have noted since 1973 that the decision in Roe was not based in the law or the constitution.  It was a pure legislative move by the judicial branch.  That decision has cast doubt on the integrity of the Court ever since.  If a new decision will finally overrule Roe, America will again be able to deal with abortion on a state-by-state basis.  As many of you know, I am against abortion at any stage.  It is my hope that the Arizona legislature will ban abortions in Arizona if Roe is overturned.  Time will tell. Road to the Midterms : Summer Primaries and Beyond

Road to the Midterms Thursday, June 2nd at 5pm PT/8pm ET   Join us this Thursday at 5pm PT/8pm ET for an update on our current get out the vote campaigns for the upcoming summer primaries in Virginia, Florida and Arizona. We will also discuss on our strategy for engaging BIPOC voters in the fall midterms.   In the face of even more barriers to the ballot box, it is critical that we educate voters on new voting rules so that they will be ready to cast their ballot once elections begin. We have just finished engaging Black voters in Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina. Now we are making calls in to Virginia and post-carding voters in Florida.   While we cannot “out-organize voter suppression,” our efforts to connect with and educate voters makes a big difference in increasing voter turnout. May 23, 2022 How To Best Communicate With USCIS Right Now Dear Stakeholder, We are sending this message to share some updates and best practices for communicating with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as we have heard from you about concerns regarding the USCIS Contact Center. USCIS is actively recruiting to fill approximately 4,400 vacancies agencywide, including at the Contact Center. Given the current shortage of representatives, including those who are Spanish-speaking, Spanish speakers should consider calling with an English interpreter, if feasible, to minimize wait times. Best Practices Online tools: Always start by reviewing publicly available immigration information on the USCIS website. Many questions can be answered by the online FAQs and specific web pages addressing the various benefit types. In addition, individuals can reach out to USCIS through online tools, such as e‑Request. e-Request is available anytime for you to ask a question about your case and saves you from having to wait on the phone. If you have a USCIS online account, you can use secure messaging to ask questions about forms filed online or linked to your account. A USCIS Contact Center representative will review your message. Ask Emma: You can also ask Emma, USCIS’ online virtual assistant, for help. If she cannot answer your questions, she may connect you to a live chat representative to assist with more complex inquiries, including scheduling an in-person appointment at the local field office if necessary. Please note Emma will not connect you to a live representative just because you state that you want to speak with someone. You must establish a need to speak with a representative; that is determined by the information you seek. USCIS Contact Center: When calling the USCIS Contact Center, you will be connected to an interactive voice response (IVR) system, which can answer many of your questions. If the IVR determines you need to speak with a live representative, it may connect you immediately or you may have to wait, depending on the time of day, the call volume, and the availability of USCIS representatives. If USCIS schedules a callback, it will text and/or email you one to two days before the call. Check your email and text messages for these notices as it will help you prepare for your callback. Once the text and/or email is received, we suggest adding this number to your cell phone so you recognize the incoming call is from USCIS. If you don’t pick up the first call, USCIS will call one more time. Please note that USCIS connects with 88%-90% of people during the first callback. No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay on retirement.  While Politicians hold their political positions, in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full-pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.

If each person who receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around

Proposed   28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: “Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States “
