It’s great for building posterior chain strength and improving hip mobility. Step 1: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor, about hip-width apart. Place your arms by your sides with your palms facing down. Step 2: Engage your core and glutes, then press through your heels to lift your hips off the ground. Continue rising until your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees. Step 3: Hold the top position for 1–2 seconds, squeezing your glutes and keeping your core tight. Avoid arching your lower back or letting your knees flare out. Step 4: Slowly lower your hips back to the starting position with control. Perform 2–3 sets of 12–15 repetitions. This exercise strengthens the glutes and hamstrings, supports spinal stability, and helps improve posture and functional movement. This week’s blog breaks it down: Friction kills: Don’t wait until your blade is glowing. Coolant matters: Use it right or pay the price. Sharp tools = Happy tools: Dull = drag = heat. It’s not about babying your gear. It’s about making it last—and saving money for the stuff that really matters (like beer, or more tools). Here’s What You Need to Know: 1. Keep It Cool (Literally) Using the right coolant isn’t optional; it’s survival. The second things start smoking, your blade’s already taking damage. Don’t rely on “eyeball science.” If it’s not evaporating too fast and it’s keeping chips clear, you’re doing it right. 2. Speed ≠ Power High RPM doesn’t mean better cuts. It means more heat. Dialing in the right speed (especially for tougher metals) keeps your edges clean and your tools from warping like cheap plywood. 3. Sharpen Up or Burn Out Dull tools = more friction. More friction = more heat. More heat = melted steel, fried coatings, and a very bad time. If you’ve been pushing through with the same edge since Christmas, it’s time to rethink your setup. 4. When SABR baseball research collides with rock ‘n’ roll…

Our ongoing Campaign for Baseball Research is a fundraising effort to expand, maintain, and preserve SABR’s Research Collection and Research Resources for current and future generations of baseball enthusiasts.

SABR’s Research Collection continues to grow and attract interest from all corners of the baseball universe, sometimes in unexpected ways. Two years ago, SABR was contacted by Geddy Lee, renowned frontman of the legendary rock band Rush and prolific baseball memorabilia collector. Geddy was authoring a book to showcase some of his favorite pieces in the collection and wanted to use SABR BioProject biographies to help tell their stories. In the end, the work of over 30 SABR members is featured in Geddy’s new book, 72 Stories from the Baseball Collection of Geddy Lee. It’s a fantastic illustration of how SABR research can inspire all corners of the worldwide baseball community to expand and share their love of the game.
