Living San Diego?

This past weekend my wife and I took a quick trip to San Diego to celebrate her birthday. Will I be starting a Living San Diego Community? NO. My heart is in North Phoenix and building the best damn Community there is!

San Diego/California is a popular travel destination for Phoenicians so I thought I would include a quick recap of our trip.

We tried going to Amos’ Lee concert earlier this year in Chandler/Gilbert but were unable to so since it was her birthday and San Diego is close, the rest is history.

This is us at The Rady Shell, or The Shell. The place has amazing acoustics and is right off the Bay so you can see the boats. I love to eat and loved that they have a really great selection of food, and the chairs have a “table” between them so eating is super doable…. Put aside your Cali hate and check it out. It is worth it (coming from someone who doesn’t care for concerts).

What’s a trip to San Diego without going to Coronado Island?

The hotel is getting a huge renovation. The beach was super relaxing. And we certainly got our steps in, walking around town and finding a refreshing juice place and cool bookstore.

I might be a little fru fru sometimes. One thing I love is bagel and lox. If you know me, you know my wife is Vegan. So most of the restaurants we visited are Vegan. We found a Vegan Jewish Deli and the bagel and lox is Vegan. And it was FIRE!

Want to guess what the “lox” was?

Carrots. And it was amazingly good. And the bagel was as good as Chompies’.

The hotel we stayed at was awesome. The concert was mid. The food for the entire trip was Vegan fire. And it was nice to get away for a few days. Have a fav place to visit in Cali?Reply and let me know.

Here are just some of the events on this date in the past.

•	On this day in 1894: President Grover Cleveland issued a proclamation pardoning bigamists, adulterers, polygamists and unlawful cohabitants, primarily targeting members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). This act restored their civil rights and property, which had been taken away during the government’s efforts to eliminate polygamy in the Utah territory.
•	In 1957: The “Little Rock Nine” began their first full day of classes at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, under the protection of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division. Arkansas Gov. Orval Faubus had called out the National Guard to prevent the students’ entry, which prompted President Dwight D. Eisenhower to intervene by federalizing the National Guard and sending in federal troops to ensure the students’ entry.
•	In 1965: Satchel Paige, 59, pitched three scoreless innings for the Kansas City Athletics against the Boston Red Sox, becoming the oldest pitcher in Major League Baseball history. He needed just 28 pitches to face 10 batters over the three innings, retiring all but one.
•	In 1970: “The Partridge Family” premiered on ABC, immediately following “The Brady Bunch.” The show, inspired by the real-life musical family the Cowsills, quickly became a hit and launched star David Cassidy into teen idol status.
•	In 1992: NASA launched the Mars Observer, a robotic space probe designed to study the Martian surface, atmosphere, climate and magnetic field. Unfortunately, communication with the spacecraft was lost on August 21, 1993, just before it was to enter Mars’ orbit.
•	In 2018: Bill Cosby was sentenced to 3-10 years in state prison for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004. However, after serving nearly three years, his conviction was overturned by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and he was released.

10,000 Acre-Feet of Water to Benefit Great Salt Lake, Jordan River, Birds, Habitats and Communities

Great Salt Lake will benefit from 10,000 additional acre-feet of water thanks to a partnership between the National Audubon Society and The Nature Conservancy—as co-managers of the Great Salt Lake Watershed Enhancement Trust—in partnership with Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands.

“Delivering new water to Great Salt Lake is essential to preserve the health of the lake and Utah communities, as well as protect the habitats for millions of birds that rely on it,” said Marcelle Shoop, Executive Director of the Trust and National Audubon Society’s Saline Lakes Director. “We are grateful for the vision and commitment of many partners, for this innovative late season water release to diversify benefits to the lake and its wetlands, as well as the Jordan River. We look forward to future opportunities to repeat these efforts in years to come.” Read more.
