Gosar Reintroduces the Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act
This week, I introduced H.R. 3330 the Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act (PLREDA), to increase and streamline production of wind, solar, and geothermal energy on public lands while also establishing a cost revenue sharing mechanism that ensures fair return for states, counties, sportsmen, conservation, and taxpayers. I have led this effort for the last eight years, and while a large majority of the bill was passed in an energy package last Congress, this legislation will finish the job we started. I want to thank my Natural Resources Committee colleagues, Ranking Member Westerman (AR-04) and Representatives Stauber (MN-08) and Lamborn (CO-05) for cosponsoring this effort to secure American access to energy while taking care of the people and communities public lands impact the most.

Gosar Introduces Resolution to Terminate the COVID-19 National Emergency Act
This week, I also issued a resolution to terminate the COVID-19 emergency declaration issued on March 13, 2020 under the authority of the National Emergencies Act (NEA).
Emergency powers were created to give the executive branch flexibility to respond to a range of crises facing the United States. Importantly, emergency declarations require Congress to meet every six months to consider whether the emergency should be extended or terminated.
More than a year has passed since the declaration of the COVID-19 emergency, yet Congress has failed to consider whether the emergency should continue. With cases falling, vaccine rates rising, and states reopening, it is long overdue for Congress to consider the merit of the emergency declaration.
My resolution simply requires that Congress do its job and formally debate on terminating the emergency declaration, as required by the law.

Gosar Hits Back at the Democrats’ False Oil and Gas Narrative
Gosar Hits Back at the Democrats’ False Oil and Gas Narrative
As the top Republican on the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, I fought back against the Democrats’ false claims regarding our domestic oil and gas industry. The Democrats are trying to hide from the job killing policies of the Biden Administration by playing political games maligning the oil and gas industry.
The oil and gas industry account for 9.8 million good paying jobs that will create $300 billion in wages and $159 billion in state and tax revenue by 2040. Democrats’ push to kill the industry will end up cutting these jobs and increasing our dependence on foreign sources of energy.
At the hearing, I spoke out against this false narrative and emphasized the importance in preserving and expanding domestic sources of oil and gas.

Gosar Votes Against Partisan January 6th Bills
Finally, this week the Democrats forced votes on two January 6th related bills. One was a nearly $2 billion emergency supplemental spending bill for security upgrades to the United States Capitol complex and the other was a bill to create a so-called “national commission” to review the events that took place that day.
Let me be perfectly clear, we need full transparency regarding what occurred on January 6, 2021. That is why for months I have been demanding that the Department of Justice (DOJ) release all the surveillance videos being held. It makes absolutely no sense to me why the DOJ refuses to make public ALL video footage taken on January 6. The videos would be very helpful in getting answers to many questions, including the death of Ashli Babbitt, the only individual killed that day. The videos would also show where security lapses occurred or why they were allowed to happen.
Unfortunately, neither of these two bills will lead to full transparency. For example, the security spending bill included millions of dollars for unrelated items like COVID-19 response and implements permanent recommendations before the ongoing security assessment is complete. It also would create a permanent National Guard quick reaction force within the District of Columbia raising many concerns about the role of our military and the continuation of maintaining a militarized zone. Instead of reaching across the aisle to work with Republicans to find bipartisan solutions, the Democrats chose the path of partisanship. Every Republican voted against this excessive spending bill.
Democrats also denied my amendment which would have conditioned the release of emergency security funds with the release of all the surveillance videos related to January 6, 2021.
In all candor, the bill to create a January 6thcommission was not a serious piece of legislation. Rather, it was another partisan effort to attack anyone the Democrats want to investigate and use headline-grabbing subpoena power to damage Republicans and America First supporters. That’s what this was about. This is a partisan joke and I could not support this legislation.
Other Highlights From This Week
Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris actively ignore the crisis along the southern border. Neither have visited the southern border to see the crisis they created, even though nearly two months have passed since Ms. Harris was named the border czar. Incredulously, the White House announced this week that Ms. Harris plans to visit the Mexico-Guatemala border rather than our own. In response, I cosponsored the See the Crisis Act which would block Harris from using taxpayer dollars to travel internationally before seeing the border crisis firsthand.
Interested in knowing how many days Mr. Biden has ignored the crisis along the southern border? No worries, I did the math for you! Click here to see my countdown clock.
Mr. Biden’s Education Department recently proposed a rule which would implement Critical Race Theory and the 1619 program into American education under the guise of “civic education.” A few weeks ago, I shared in my newsletter that Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a Marxist far-left ideology that believes racism is systemic in America and that laws should discriminate based on race to remedy past discrimination. CRT seeks to teach Americans they are either racists or victims based on the color of their skin, while rejecting the principle that “all men are created equal.”
The premise of CRT is that the United States was founded on racism, built on racism and continues to be the most racist nation in the world. All of this is false and defames our ancestors and founders.
In response to this new proposed rule, my Republican colleagues and I wrote to the Department of Education opposing this effort. To read copy of the letter, click here.

Progress Arizona for 24 May
Momentum on filibuster. Hundreds of Arizonansgathered across the state last Thursday to call on Senators Sinema and Kelly to eliminate the filibuster and get to work. On Saturday, the Arizona Democratic Party passed resolutions to include support for passing the For the People Act, passing the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, and elimination of the filibuster as part of the party’s platform. Support for ending the filibuster continues to grow, especially amid Republican opposition to a January 6thCommission.
GOP v. GOP. Maricopa County Republicans condemned the Arizona legislators supporting the “fraudit” being run by the Cyber Ninjas. County supervisors are preparing for a possible defamation lawsuitafter the auditors, selected by AZ Senate Republicans, made false allegations that election data was deleted by the County. The County says no files were deleted, and the auditors are simply “inept” at conducting the audit. Gov. Ducey continues to stay silent about the audit as Donald Trump pressuresother state officials about the audit in perpetuating the “Big Lie”. Secretary of State Katie Hobbes is threatening to decertify elections equipment that were handed over for the audit, citing security concerns when election officials lose custody over voting equipment.
Tax cuts for the wealthy. The Arizona GOP’s budget plan would include a massive income tax cut that would hit state revenue, benefitting the wealthy. Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction, Kathy Hoffman, has criticized the plan, which would effectively cancel out the voter-approved tax on the highest earners to fund schools, saying the plan is “at the expense of working families”. Even former Republican governor Jan Brewer advises that the flat tax proposal is short-sighted, cuts too far in the state’s budget, and is merely an attempt to pad resumes as lawmakers consider the 2022 and 2024 elections.

Drink your fruits and vegetables
Instead of reaching for a fruit juice (that may contain sneaky, sugary ingredients), turn whole fruits and vegetables into a nutritious, refreshing drink. Make a smoothie with plain, low-fat yogurt and your favorite frozen fruit. Or blend up a banana, berries, a lemon, mint, ice and 2 cups of fresh raw baby spinach. This green concoction may look unappealing at first, but it tastes delicious!
