Large tree farm fire being ‘closely monitored’ south of Maricopa

A large, long-burning fire south of Maricopa began Sunday night when the large monsoon storm included a lightning strike at a tree farm in Thunderbird Farms.

After voicing concerns regarding a skilled automotive worker shortage during a recent Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce business luncheon, local auto shop owner Dallas Giddens was invited by Casa Grande Union High School to visit an auto shop class.

Suspect in CG murder and dismemberment claiming self-defense

The Casa Grande man who has been charged in a series of crimes including the killing of his father, disposing of his dismembered body, a structure fire and armed kidnapping, while his mother helped conceal the crimes, is claiming the alleged murder was committed in self-defense.
