Toy closets at our Banner Children’s medical centers provide a well-deserved reward to children like Mustafa, 7, (pictured right) undergoing treatments like frequent blood transfusions. At just 15 months old, Mustafa was diagnosed with Beta Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder that reduces the production of hemoglobin. He spent a lot of time at Diamond Children’s Medical Center before receiving a bone marrow transplant at age 6. After a challenging procedure or achieving a milestone, his trip to the Toy Closet to choose his own toy meant the world to him.
