Maricopa County health inspectors recently visited more than 1,360 restaurants across the Valley, with more than 220 receiving an A rating. Others, not so much.

In 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his last speech, “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop,” at Mason Temple in Memphis, Tennessee. King called for unity against peaceful protests and boycotts. He also ominously mentioned threats against his life.

In 1996,“Unabomber” Theodore Kaczynski was captured in Montana. Kaczynski had killed 3 people and injured more than 20 with explosives sent through the mail over a 17-year period. He was sentenced to eight consecutive life sentences. He died by suicide in 2023.

In 2010, Apple released the first-generation iPad tablet computer.

In 2016, The Panama Papers were published, including over 11 million confidential documents from offshore firm Mossack Fonseca detailing the financial information of more than 214,488 offshore entities. It was the world’s largest-ever data leak that revealed a massive litany of financial crimes.

In 2023, the astronauts for the Artemis II Lunar mission were announced: Christina Hammock Koch, Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen. Originally planned for 2024, it was delayed to 2025 by NASA.
Peoria claimed in court that ex city attorney Vanessa Hickman broke her contract by accepting $139,000 more than she was entitled to when she resigned.
