A parking garage that VAI Resort wants to build on newly purchased land from Glendale could effectively end the city’s dispute with the Arizona Cardinals and would give a needed boost to the mammoth-sized project, slated to become the state’s largest resort.

Here are just some of the events on this date in the past.

•	On this day in 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the National Labor Relations Act into law. Also known as the Wagner Act, the legislation established the National Labor Relations Board and enshrined into law “the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid and protection.”
•	In 1950, Task Force Smith, an American infantry unit, clashed with North Korean forces at Osan, South Korea, in what is known as the first engagement between the two nations in the Korean War.
•	In 1975, Arthur Ashe became the first Black man to win Wimbledon after defeating Jimmy Connors, who was the defending Wimbledon champion at the time.
•	In 1989, the TV show “Seinfeld” debuted on NBC with an episode called “The Seinfeld Chronicles.” While the next episode would not air until almost a year later, the show is widely regarded as one of the most influential sitcoms of all time.
•	In 1994, Jeff Bezos incorporated a company called Cadabra Inc. in Washington state. A few months later, Bezos changed the name of his company to Amazon.
•	In 2021, prolific filmmaker Richard Donner died in Los Angeles at age 91 from heart failure. Donner is perhaps most known for making the world believe a man can fly in “Superman,” which he directed.

The National Weather Service has issued excessive heat warnings for Maricopa, Pima and Coconino counties and parts of Grand Canyon beginning July 4.
