Hamster fun and information
AWLA
Welcome to the first edition of the Weekly Walker — a weekly feature of pets you are helping and people who inspire us!
To kick us off, here’s Maddie.
Maddie was transferred to AWLA from a shelter in Georgia.
When she arrived our vet team discovered she had a badly broken leg and life-threatening heartworm disease.
She could barely stand and was obviously in pain — the best course of action was to amputate her leg so that she would be able to walk again.
Maddie is receiving life-saving treatment for her heartworm disease and is learning to walk farther and farther every day all thanks to your support!
You can ensure even more animals like Maddie get a new start in life by becoming a Hero from Home and participating in the Walk for the Animals!
This week’s Hero from Home: Karin Anderson!

Karin stopped by the shelter to drop off more than 50 dog adoption kits for new adopters to take home. They are filled with treats, toys, and helpful hints for the dogs and new pet parents to enjoy. Karin completed her Girl Scout Silver Award (the second-highest award girl scouts can achieve) with the project. Thank you, Karin!
There are so many ways that YOU can be a hero from home! Sign up to Walk for the Animals (your way) today!

A special shout out to our first-ever Walk Headline Sponsor: Caring Hands Animal Hospital!

Caring Hands is a network of eight veterinary hospitals born from a simple idea: we can create a better world for animals and the people who love them. We think deeply about what a veterinary practice can be and mean for pets and people. We think differently about how to build it. Relationships can only work on a strong foundation of trust. That is why we have built the most open and transparent veterinary experience in the region. Open treatment areas, windows into the surgical suites, and an Open Door Policy…everything we do here puts you at the center of your pet’s healthcare.
More than anything, we pride ourselves on education. Teaching you the “why” behind recommended treatment and care. And the treatment plan we propose for your pet is custom-tailored to your dog or cat’s lifestyle, along with your lifestyle. This is deeply individualized medicine. Because we can build a better world for you and your pet, together. We are open 7 days a week with convenient hours to fit even the busiest of schedules.
Thank you Caring Hands for your continued support and partnership!
