All 30 teams have made decisions about which prospects to protect on 40-man rosters and many are now making some deals to either firm up those rosters or perhaps create space so they can be active in the Major League phase of December’s Rule 5 Draft.

The baseball world will gather for the Rule 5 Draft at the Winter Meetings in San Diego on Dec. 7, the first time the event will be held in person since 2019. Every team had difficult decisions to make about which players to protect, and each has at least one intriguing option the other 29 teams might want to consider when the Draft arises.

Here’s one potential Rule 5 pick for each team.

Right-hander Grayson Rodriguez was waiting by the phone late last season for a call that never came — a call to the Majors. But Orioles GM Mike Elias said the club’s No. 2 prospect — MLB Pipeline’s fourth overall — is in the hunt to open 2023 in the rotation.
