Dear Peter,
President & CEO Joseph Mettimano invites you to A Seat at the Table!
This Thanksgiving will look much different than before. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted life for everyone and has required us to adjust to a new normal. One thing the pandemic did not stop is the number of people who need food, care and support. Demand for our programs and services rose over 50 percent during the height of the pandemic, and as the crisis continues, we expect those numbers to rise over the next several months.
That’s why we believe it’s important this holiday season, more than ever before, that everyone has A Seat at the Table.
Our seats might be a little further apart this year, but one thing that remains the same is that we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord. Coronavirus taught us whether in hardship, or in abundance, at some point we all have to face the same obstacles, and through it all, we are still called to care for our neighbors in need with the blessings we have been given.
Central Union Mission invites you to be a sponsor for our fundraising campaign, A Seat at the Table. Through this campaign, which begins now and concludes with a live simulcast celebration at the shelter on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, we’ll be able to provide Thanksgiving meals and much more for our neighbors in need this winter.
Please consider partnering with us for this campaign and set aside some time on November 25 to join us online as we live stream segments from our Thanksgiving Day meal at the shelter. Your support will ensure we have enough resources to provide food and fun festivities for every guest who walks through our doors. You can also check out our fun and meaningful participation opportunities at missiondc.org/TheTable. Please contact Deborah Chambers at dchambers@missiondc.org or 202-827-3078 for more information.
God bless you for caring,
Joseph M. Mettimano

5 ways to eat more whole grains
Whole grains help lower cholesterol and provide a good source of fiber. Increase your consumption with these simple steps: 1. Choose breads made from 100% whole grains. 2. Opt for whole-wheat pasta over white pasta. 3. Select brown rice instead of white. 4. Trade sugar-sweetened cereals for high-fiber cereals, such as bran flakes, oats or shredded wheat. 5. Bake with whole-wheat flour instead of white flour.

Welcome to another (not terribly) exciting episode… Shortly, having crossed Fort Balderdash to the Non-Commissioned Officer’s mess… …Jo and Wetpatch let themselves in, where they had to first push aside an unserviceable all-terrain attack vehicle so that they could access the sole com-panel allowed by the cavalry’s restricted budget… “There is only one guy in […]
