+ PROMOTE YOUR EVENT Good afternoon RJ,
While Veterans Day doesn’t officially take place until Thursday, some celebrations are being held this weekend to honor those who have served in the United States military. We have put together a list of eventsgoing on throughout Pinal County over the next week.
Plus, get to know some of the vets who are being featured during these celebrations, such as a Chandler man who survived the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and a Florence native who was on the USS Indianapolis.
As always, you can check in with PinalCentral’s weekly events calendar to find the perfect occasion for you and your family’s entertainment. And if you’re looking for a place to eat where you’re going, find a spot in our Pinal County Restaurant Directory.
And if you’re planning to head up to the Valley this weekend, don’t plan anything before you check out some of the major road closures and restrictions planned by the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Good afternoon RJ,
After it was looking likely that a key budget override for Maricopa Unified School District would fail based on Tuesday’s votes, the final major update to Pinal County’s election results actually put the measure ahead, setting it up for approval following next week’s canvassing by the Board of Supervisors. Read the reaction to this turnaround here.
However, that update was not enough to save the fortunes of another Pinal County district. Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District Superintendent Orlenda Roberts saidshe was upset that their override failed, and said some tough decisions will have to be made as to how costs will be cut.
Some other news heading into the weekend:
— A shooting at a Casa Grande convenience store left one man shot in the face and another arrested for aggravated assault, endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
— After being accused of fraud over some promotional material, Nikola Motor Company is preparing for fines of $125 million, though they hope to recover some of that from ousted CEO Trevor Milton. The electric vehicle company is building a manufacturing plant in Coolidge.

Make time for exercise
If your days and evenings are packed, try exercising in the morning. Start by getting up 30 minutes earlier twice a week and hopping on the treadmill or stationary bike while you listen to the radio or watch the morning news. Or step outside for a brisk walk. Once you’ve adjusted to early-morning workouts, add another day or two to the routine.
