An Influential Voice in Automotive History Returns to Lime…
Miles Collier Named Honored Guest
of Historic Festival 44
The Revs Institute deepens its long-standing connection with
Lime Rock Park, bringing cars to display and to the track.
A relationship built on shared values—history, authenticity, and the belief that great cars are meant to be driven—takes center stage Thursday through Monday of Labor Day Weekend, September 3–7, 2026.
Miles Collier, founder of the Revs Institute, will return to Lime Rock Park as Honored Guest of Historic Festival 44. Scott George, Chief Curator, will join him, as Revs brings a remarkable group of historic cars—some on display, others racing—back to Lime Rock.
This year’s Featured Marque, Alfa Romeo, will be honored with a stunning gathering of cars spanning the brand’s racing and road-going history. Adding to that celebration, Revs will present a selection of rare and significant Alfa Romeos alongside important examples from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) era—cars that connect directly to the origins of American road racing.
Miles Collier comes from a family that helped shape that history, but his own contribution has been just as significant. A racer, thought leader, and lifelong student of the automobile, he has spent decades deepening our understanding of what these machines represent—not just how they look, but how they were used, how they evolved, and why they matter. In The Archaeological Automobile, he describes historic cars as “active matter”—objects meant to be experienced, not simply observed.
That thinking led to the creation of the Miles Collier Collections and, ultimately, the founding of the Revs Institute—now one of the world’s leading centers for automotive history, preservation, and scholarship. As a public nonprofit, Revs is dedicated to studying, preserving, and sharing historically significant automobiles, ensuring their stories are understood and carried forward for future generations.
At Historic Festival 44, that philosophy—and that responsibility—comes to life at Lime Rock, on display, on track, and through the stories behind the cars.Read the full story on our websiteGet Tickets to Historic Festival 44 Here
Two Iconic Alfa Romeos Lead a Stunning Revs Institute Collection to Historic Festival 44
1938 Alfa Romeo Tipo 8C 2900B Berlinetta.
Elegance at Speed
Widely regarded as the fastest sports car of its era—and by many, the most beautiful ever built—the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B represents the absolute pinnacle of pre-war performance and design. Developed from Alfa Romeo’s Grand Prix program, the supercharged 8C was engineered to dominate the Mille Miglia while doubling as a road-going masterpiece. This very car, once displayed at the Paris Automobile Salon, would go on to win the 1947 Mille Miglia against fierce post-war competition, marking Alfa Romeo’s final victory in the legendary race.
1964 Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ. Light. Loud. Lethal.
A purpose-built racing machine that helped ignite Alfa Romeo’s post-war motorsport resurgence, the Giulia TZ is as raw as it is effective. Its lightweight tubular chassis and Zagato bodywork made it exceptionally fast, while its stripped-down nature left no doubt about its intent. The example appearing at Lime Rock was the most successful of four factory-supported entries at the 1964 12 Hours of Sebring, winning its class despite running much of the race with a compromised clutch—and it will be doing exactly what it was built to do: taking the track at Historic Festival 44.Get Tickets to Historic Festival 44 Here
