‘Tis the season for activities and holiday fun. And this weekend, there’s plenty of music and entertainment throughout Casa Grande and the surrounding area to keep area residents having fun and feeling festive. Here are a few of the events happening in the area this weekend.
In Coolidge, local veterans groups have invited the community to remember and honor veterans at their first candlelight vigil. Families will receive a ceramic Christmas tree ornament during the lighting ceremony, with candles provided at the event. Click here for more details.
Plus, for the 23rd consecutive year, the city of Eloy will have its tree-lighting ceremony in celebration of the holidays. The event, called Christmas in Eloy, will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Main Street Park. Click here for more details.
For the students in the Casa Grande Union High School marching band, winning first place in the Arizona Marching Band Association 4A competition in November was a proud moment. It came after months of practice and preparation.
In 1743, when England’s King George II first heard the “Hallelujah Chorus” in George Frideric Handel’s new oratorio, “Messiah,” he reportedly leapt to his feet, overcome with emotion.
Hoping to bring something different to the lineup of holiday activities, a group of actors will take the stage in the Paramount Theatre this month, portraying the classic “Christmas Carol” storyline in the style of a 1940s radio show.
The Central Arizona College Foundation will host the annual “A Night of Stars” event on Feb. 9 at Elements Event Center at Ak-Chin Circle, 16000 N. Maricopa Road, to raise money for CAC’s scholarship programs, including Pinal Promise, that provide a high-quality and affordable education for CAC students.
