A Special Invitation From Captain Heidi Norling

Dear Guest,
As another spectacular season in Antarctica aboard National Geographic Resolutioncomes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to answer a question I hear often from our guests: Where should I go next? For me, the answer is easy—the Arctic. As the summer season approaches, I invite you to join us to experience this remarkable region at its most dynamic.
There are several Arctic voyages I suggest to travelers. Southeast Greenland: Exploring at the Edge of the Ice Capshowcases incredible landscapes where powerful glaciers feed rarely traveled fjords. Days are spent hiking backcountry tundra and Zodiac cruising along glacier fronts.
For those drawn to a broader view of the North Atlantic, there are two voyages that pair Greenland’s wild eastern coast with Iceland: Wild Arctic Shores: Circumnavigating Iceland and Exploring Greenland and Arctic Edges: Iceland Westfjords to East Greenland. These journeys highlight striking contrasts, from Iceland’s volcanic landscapes to Greenland’s icy shores—and each departure features the National Geographic Explorers-in-Training program for kids and teens.
Sailing the St. Lawrence Seaway and Canadian Maritimesoffers a different way to explore the north. From calling in St-Pierre, France’s oldest remaining overseas territory, to navigating the Saguenay River Fjord—where beluga whales regularly surface—it’s easy to see how these waterways have shaped life here for centuries.
Whether you’re continuing your exploration of the far north or considering your first voyage to the region, I hope you’ll join us this summer to experience the adventure firsthand. We look forward to welcoming you on board.
Warm regards,
Heidi Norling
