BACKGROUND:
The true essence of Öömrang began with a serendipitous family gathering and a basement winemaking experiment by Edmund and Christine Stoecklein in 2016. This spontaneous passion evolved into a fully operational winery nestled on their 85-acre Öömrang Hus farm in Stanwood, Washington, with approximately 22 acres dedicated to vineyards. Öömrang’s vineyards thrive in a rare Puget Sound micro-climate, sheltered by the majestic Olympic Mountains and Northern Cascades, resulting in less rainfall, milder winters, and ideal summer temperatures for growing select German varietals. Every vine is nurtured with meticulous, sustainable farming practices, maximizing sun exposure and respecting the vibrant ecosystem.

Siegerrebe is a unique varietal primarily cultivated in cooler climate wine regions, notably Germany and now, successfully, in Washington’s Puget Sound. Its name, meaning “victory vine” in German, alludes to its early ripening and robust nature. This grape is celebrated for producing aromatic white wines with distinctive floral notes and often a slightly sweeter profile, offering a delightful alternative to more common varietals while maintaining a semi-dry balance on the palate.

WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
“Our 2022 Estate Siegerrebe is considered one of our finest vintages, showcasing the distinctive character of this unique grape. This crystal-clear, light straw-colored white wine delivers a delicate floral aroma. On the palate, it offers a slightly sweeter taste while remaining semi-dry, characterized by low acidity and a long, lingering finish. With an alcohol content of 12.20%, this vintage beautifully embodies the balance and purity Öömrang aims for.”

This wine has won numerous awards and accolades including 99 Points & the Chairman’s Award from Chairman Tim McDonald at the Las Vegas Global Wine Awards 96 Points Double Platinum Award by Great Northwest Wine’s Best of the Best in the Northwest, 95 Points Gold Award by PR%F Magazine Awards, and 92 Points Gold Award by West Coast Wine Competition. Öömrang was also awarded 100 Points 2023 Winery of the Year by PR%F Magazine Awards!
