Hi! I’m Amanda, Senior Editor of Deals & Trends at Good Housekeeping. I spend most of my time sifting through sales, trying to find the best prices on products that our team of experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute have tested and trust. This week, I’m excited to help you score the best discounts this Prime Day.
However, after seven years of covering Prime Day, I’ve learned there are certain items that are best left off your shopping list — both this week and, in some cases, forever
And you don’t have to just take my word for it. I even check with our experts in the Good Housekeeping Institute, who confirmed that you should skip adding these to your cart.
Large appliances. There’s nothing wrong with splurging on a large appliance during Amazon Prime Day, but you might not get the best deal possible. Our experts recommend shopping for things like refrigerators, dishwashers, washers and dryers during major holidays for the deepest discounts.
Deals from third-party sellers: We’ve all seen it: Major discounts on products that come from third-party sellers (sigh). To make sure the seller you’re buying from is legitimate, you can check if it’s verified by Amazon’s Brand Registry or see if it’s sold and shipped by Amazon.com.
Good deals on bad products: It’s our mission at Good Housekeeping to help ensure you’re getting the best deals on high-quality items that we’ve tested. If you see a good deal on an iffy item, it might be worth reconsidering. (Sometimes, it’s better to splurge on a great item that you’re confident will last a long time.)
