BACKGROUND:
Swiftsure is a bold new collection born from a journey south to the dramatic peaks of Marlborough. Just as its name evokes, Swiftsure wines reflect the distinct, rugged landscapes of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Their family-owned vineyards are planted on challenging sub-alpine hillsides and terraces, layered with jagged greywacke rock and ancient schist—environments where they believe some of the most exceptional wines are crafted. This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a true reflection of the region’s vibrant beauty, offering purity and power, mirroring the majesty of the South Island.

The 2023 vintage in Marlborough for Sauvignon Blanc was generally characterized by a favorable growing season, delivering wines of vibrant character and good concentration. This Swiftsure Sauvignon Blanc showcases the distinctive characters of the iconic Marlborough region, with fruit sourced primarily from their Southern Coast Vineyard. The fresh herbaceous and citrus characters from this unique site are beautifully complemented by the passionfruit intensity and richness of Waihopai Valley fruit, creating a wine that is seamlessly balanced and layered.

The nose is an inviting bouquet of tropical fruits, grilled lime, and fresh herbs, truly capturing the essence of its place. On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced, featuring a core of juicy fruit weight complemented by crisp acidity and subtle river stone minerality. Each sip reveals layers of vibrant tropical flavors, harmoniously composed and leading to a wonderfully lingering finish.

CAM DOUGLAS RATED THIS 95 POINTS SAYING:
“Complex and enticing bouquet of fresh lemon and apple, fine lees complexity and tropical fruit moments laced with fresh green herbs and pineapple. Crisp, dry, detailed and fruity, flavours mirror the bouquet led by the tropical and lemon then lees and herbs. Acidity is saline and salivating, some very fine fruit tannins and acidity along with lees impacts deliver a lush and textured mouthfeel. Balanced and well made with a long finish.”
