Stray Cat Follows Woman Home And Begs To Be Adopted

A few years back in Toronto, Julia noticed a striking orange-and-white cat who always seemed to be nearby. No matter when she stepped outside, there he was. He would plop down in front of her and eagerly ask for belly rubs. At first, it seemed like a cute coincidence, but this cat had bigger plans.

One day, the furry stranger decided to escalate his approach. He found Julia’s house, leapt up to her window, clung to the screen with his claws, and began meowing insistently. But it didn’t stop there. He came back again the next day, and then the day after that. It was becoming evident that he wasn’t going anywhere.

“He’d just be trying to get our attention and never really leave,” Julia shared in an interview with The Dodo. Eventually, her curiosity and compassion won out. She let him inside, planning to give him shelter for just one night. He was so affectionate that she suspected he might belong to someone. But after asking neighbors and checking for any sign of an owner, she came to a bittersweet realization: he was homeless.

At that moment, she knew he’d chosen her. Julia officially welcomed the determined feline into her life and gave him a name: Liam.

Their bond was instant. “As soon as he got back from the vet and was on the bed, it was constant cuddles,” Julia said. Liam settled into his new life as an indoor cat as if he had been waiting for it forever. His favorite pastime quickly became sprawling across Julia’s lap, sound asleep with his mouth wide open, completely at peace.

“It just makes you realize that he’s meant to be here, he’s meant to be my cat,” Julia reflected.

After Liam became a permanent part of the family, Julia started fostering kittens. To her surprise, Liam became a nurturing figure to the tiny newcomers. He cuddled with them, played gently, and helped them feel safe in their unfamiliar surroundings. “I did not expect this stray cat, who would hang onto our screen, to be just the perfect little foster dad,” she said, still amazed by his transformation.
