We’ve reached another critical stage in the fight to protect Medicaid. Last week, the U.S. House voted in support of a budget that includes massive cuts to Medicaid and, therefore, will strip health care from millions of Americans.
It’s simple, Peter: Medicaid is the backbone of mental health care in our country. It funds a quarter of all mental health services and nearly 40% of all substance use treatment.
If you’re not one of the 70 million Americans who rely on Medicaid, someone you love is. So we’re asking you to raise your voice again.
The ball is in the Senate’s court now; soon, they will vote on this budget, and we need them to reject cuts to Medicaid.
With one in five adults in the U.S. experiencing a mental illness each year, we can’t afford to let these Medicaid cuts go into effect.
We will fight every step of the way to protect access to mental health care for all Americans. I appreciate that every time we’ve asked you to reach out to your legislators on this issue, you’ve answered the call. Please keep fighting with us and write to your Senators today.
