BACKGROUND:
Château Margaux, a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate, has a storied history of producing exceptional wines. While renowned for its red wines, the estate has also crafted a distinguished white wine since the early 18th century. In 1920, this white wine was named Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux. In recent years, the estate’s rigorous selection process for Pavillon Blanc has led to the creation of a second white wine, the Pavillon Blanc Second Vin, first introduced with the 2022 vintage.
Winemaker’s Notes
The Pavillon Blanc Second Vin 2023 is crafted exclusively from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from Château Margaux’s historic vineyards. Harvested between August 23rd and 30th during the cooler morning hours to preserve freshness, the grapes underwent meticulous vinification. The resulting wine showcases the estate’s commitment to precision and excellence in white winemaking.
This vintage stands out for its freshness and elegance. On the nose, it reveals a delicate bouquet of perfectly balanced floral and citrus notes. The palate offers a supple, generous texture characterized by seamless roundness and smoothness. The finish is fresh and persistent, supported by a good level of acidity.
