Good morning Rj! đ

Border militarization is ramping up. The Trump administration is planning to deploy hundreds more federal personnel, including calling on state National Guards, to the new âmilitary zonesâ along the U.S.-Mexico border; this is in addition to the thousands of active-duty combat troops and hundreds of wartime vehicles and weapons sent since Trumpâs first day in office. These âmilitary zonesâ were implemented through an executive order released two weeks ago and essentially enables the military act as a de facto border police force, which is a blatant attempt to get around checks and balances, and evade limits on domestic use of the armed forces put forth by the Constitution. This escalation in border militarization was partnered with Trump crony & known white supremacistStephen Miller said in interviews that the administration wants to suspend Habeas Corpus by invoking the âInvasion Actâ â propping up the dangerous and false white-supremacist âGreat Replacementâ conspiracy theories. These âinvasionâ claims have served as the legal justification for several elements of their broader assault on core pillars of our democracy, including their invocation of the âAlien Enemies Act of 1798,â which has been used to justify abducting legal U.S. residents to the for-profit Salvadoran torture camp. The discussions about suspending habeas corpus and illegal use of military force shows an administration on defense, reeling, and seeking to escalate the threats and the scope of its assault on core democratic pillars.Â
Trump continues to weed out anyone who opposes him. Trumpâs Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard fired two top intelligence officials after a declassified memo exposed lies the administration used to justify abducting Venezuelan migrants. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has fired the two highest-ranking officials at the National Intelligence Council (NIC) because they oppose President Donald Trump, her office said, coming a week after the release of a declassified memo written by their agency that contradicted the Trump administrationâs justification for using the Alien Enemies Act to abduct legal U.S. residents without due process. The intelligence assessment was released in response to an open records request filed by the Freedom of the Press Foundation.Â
A little good news, as a treat. A federal judge is halting the Trump administration from carrying out mass firings or major reorganizations of multiple agencies going forward. Senior District Judge Susan Illston granted a temporary restraining order sought by federal employee unions, local governments, and outside organizations that rely on federal services, which not only blocks the administration from conducting mass layoffs, but also from shrinking or eliminating entire components of an agency. In addition, the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, cannot cut programs or staff by way of any Trump executive orders.
