Peter, In Every Story, There is Strength – Help Us Keep Telling Them

Hello Peter,

This May, during Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that behind every statistic is a story—of struggle, of resilience, and of hope.

At NAMI Northern Virginia, we’ve heard countless stories from individuals and families whose lives were transformed because they found our community. People like James, who after years of silent suffering with bipolar disorder, walked into a NAMI support group and found others who truly understood. Or Maria, whose teen daughter began attending NAMI’s Ending the Silence presentations at school—presentations that gave her daughter the language and confidence to seek help.

These stories are not rare. In fact, they’re what drive our mission every day.

Thanks to supporters like you, we’ve been able to provide free mental health education programs, peer support groups, and advocacy for the past 47 years. And the need continues to grow.

Your donation today ensures no one has to face their mental health journey alone.

As one NAMI program participant put it:

“NAMI saved my life. I was in a dark place, and their support gave me hope and direction.”

This month, let’s amplify voices, reduce stigma, and ensure every person in our community has access to the help they need. Together, we can be the difference between isolation and connection.

In Hope,

Rebecca Kiessling
