I have a crucial Medicaid update to share with you today, Peter.
The House committee mark up on Medicaid has been pushed back to next week — and your U.S. representative is making their decision on Medicaid funding right now.
We need mental health advocates just like you across the country to take decisive action today. The mark up could be scheduled as early as May 12th and members of Congress are having significant conversations behind closed doors this week. They need to hear from their constituents as soon as possible.
Medicaid is mental health, Peter — and we have just six days to protect it and change the course of mental health care in the United States.
That’s not an exaggeration. Inseparable will never take a “sky is falling” approach to advocacy. We’re here to give you the facts — and the fact is that on May 7th, the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over Medicaid, will “mark up” a budget reconciliation bill that could include hundreds of billions of dollars in cuts to Medicaid.
That’s why this May, for Mental Health Awareness Month, Inseparable is launching our most comprehensive effort to date to protect Medicaid — and we need your help.
Slashing Medicaid would have dire consequences for millions of people across the country. Medicaid pays for 25% of all mental health care and 40% of all addiction treatment in America — more than any other insurer.
Medicaid is a lifeline for every single community in the country. The proposed cuts would impact 72 million Americans, including 40% of children in this country, 1 in 10 veterans, and 15 million people with disabilities.
We are at a critical stage in this fight, Peter and we need you to reach out to your U.S. Representative about protecting Medicaid. After you do that, please share it with your friends and family and ask them to reach out too. We need to flood House members with messages from their constituents before May 7th. Together, we can preserve access to mental health care for millions of Americans.
