The House is voting on Medicaid funding tomorrow

The House is voting tomorrow on the budget resolution that will cut over $800 billion from programs, including Medicaid.

Medicaid is the country’s largest payer of mental health and substance abuse disorder care and millions of Americans rely on its coverage to access the affordable care they need.

Making deep cuts to Medicaid would put millions people’s lives at risk and have drastic and devastating consequences on our communities.

This House vote is expected to be very close, which means moving even just a single member could change the outcome. Your member of Congress needs to hear from you, Peter — will you call your Representative today and demand that they vote NO to cuts to Medicaid funding?

Here are the facts of the matter:

• Nearly 40% of all children are covered by Medicaid.
• Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) cover 47% of children and 18% of adults in small towns and rural areas, providing access to important services in areas where people are more likely to be uninsured and face additional barriers to care.
• Many state Medicaid programs have played a key role in combating the overdose crisis by expanding access to substance use disorder treatment.

Protecting Medicaid means protecting the health and safety of our loved ones, and we need mental health advocates in 85140 to speak up before Representatives take their votes TOMORROW.
