Market Review – S&P Futures

An Auspicious Start
The month of February opened in the ES Futures at 5982.25. The YM Futures opened the month at 44449, and the NQ Futures opened at 21200. Of the big 3, only the NQ futures opened February below the January open. In an expanded look the Russell opened February at 2248.00 which is also below the January open. This is twice now in January that the market rejected going higher. The first opportunity was a rally to 6162.25 and not 6163.75. The second was Friday’s high at 6147.75 followed by the market moving lower into the weekend. January said the market is not as bullish as some seem to think. However, we stayed above the 4th qtr open at 5807.00, and above the 4th qtr low at 5724.00. Not being bullish is not the same thing as being bearish.

Key News and Probabilities for the Week
The main news I’ll be watching for this week is Non-Farm Payroll on Friday!

We are seasonally strong on Monday and Tuesday. If the market can get some strength overnight, it could be a big day on Monday.
