Peter ,
We need a Supreme Court, and federal judiciary, that work for all of us, not just the wealthy and powerful. For our democracy to work, we must know and have faith that judicial decisions are informed by facts and law, not wealth and power.
There are currently dozens of judicial nominees―many of whom are committed to civil and human rights and represent our communities―but they are lingering in limbo because the Senate has not confirmed them.
With right-wing extremists set to have majorities in both chambers of Congress and the White House next year, it’s imperative that the Senate move now, in the remaining few weeks of this Congress, to confirm these nominees.
The judiciary will have impacts on areas ranging from the environment and public health to workers’ rights, voter rights, consumer rights, gun safety, and democracy.
Send a message to your Senators now urging them to move quickly to confirm dozens of fair-minded judges.
TAKE ACTIONThe Senate has already made great strides in confirming a diverse set of judges, many of them to lifetime appointments. As of October 2024, the Senate has confirmed qualified nominees, including 90 judges who have served as public defenders, civil rights lawyers, or who have chosen careers protecting civil liberties and human rights, and confirmations for 130 judges of color and 136 women.1
The Senate must continue and confirm the remaining judicial nominees in the final weeks of the 118th Congress.
Take action to demand the Senate confirm the remaining judicial nominees now.
Thank you for all you do,
Deborah Weinstein
