Since we were founded more than a century ago, we have dramatically increased our work for refugees. Right now, we are facing the largest displacement crisis in history: 120 million people are forcibly displaced, and this staggering figure continues growing each year in the wake of new and ongoing wars, political conflicts, climate change, and natural disasters.

For over a century, HIAS has stood as a beacon of hope for those fleeing persecution and poverty. We are proud of our history, and the life-saving support we provided for generations of Jews fleeing persecution. And we are prouder still of our expanded mission to support refugees from diverse backgrounds around the world, no matter where they come from. Throughout all of these moments, our focus has remained steadfast: providing essential services and advocating for the rights of refugees, and treating every person with compassion and dignity.
