We start today in Maricopa, as the police department is investigating a vehicle accident that occurred on Honeycutt Road over the weekend. The driver struck a metal pole, causing the vehicle to roll over and requiring extrication through the windshield.
Speaking of Maricopa, some of the best bag tossers from across Arizona came together over the weekend to compete in cornhole championship tournaments. Inside Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino ballroom, more than 30 lanes were set up with more than 400 players throughout the weekend facing off against each other in the 2024 Arizona State Cornhole Championships. Plus, in state news, several areas in Tonto National Forest are under evacuation orders due to a lightning-caused wildfire that has burned 8.6 square miles since last week. Officials with the U.S. Forest Service said the Black Fire began Thursday and remains at zero containment. |
