A firefighter was transported to a hospital yesterday for injuries sustained while responding to a fire that destroyed a Casa Grande home. According to Fire Chief Dave Kean, the house was totally lost and was caused by children playing with matches.
Meanwhile, a majority of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved industrial zoning for a 1,649-acre solar farm along State Route 287 yesterday. The board approved the zoning despite opposition from the Pinal County Planning and Zoning Commission and a dozen public hearing speakers. Read more from the supervisors meeting.
Plus, in Coolidge, the Coolidge 12U Young Bucks baseball team won a state championship and will head to Hawaii in July. This year, the team stands undefeated at 18-0, earning the right to represent Arizona in Oahu, Hawaii, from July 13-21. It will compete in the Pacific Southwest Cal Ripken Regional Tournament. |
