School is out and summer vacation has officially begun. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor has started its summer camp program providing activities for Maricopa children on break. The purpose of the summer camp is to provide for Maricopa children, ages kindergarten through fifth grade, who may not have summer plans or need a place to go while their parents are at work.
Meanwhile, at Maricopa’s most recent City Council meeting, city employees shared findings from the current budget as they proposed the new budget for fiscal year 2025. The biggest takeaway from the meeting was that the city will be, once again, lowering the property tax rate. Read more about the proposed Maricopa budget.
Plus, in national news, former President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts in his criminal hush money trial. It is the first time a former U.S. president was ever tried or convicted in a criminal case, and was the first of Trump’s four indictments to reach trial. |
