5 Fun Facts from the Canadian Open

1. The Canadian Open is the third oldest continuously running PGA Tour tournament, after The Open Championship and the U.S. Open, and was first played in 1904.

2. The RBC Canadian Open is regarded as the most prestigious tournament never won by Jack Nicklaus, a seven-time runner-up.

3. In 2009, Mark Calcavecchia made nine consecutive birdies during the second round, breaking the PGA Tour record.

4. The top three golfers on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA Tour Canada Order of Merit prior to the tournament are given entry into the Canadian Open.

5. Last year Nick Taylor became the first Canadian in 69 years to win the event (since Pat Fletcher in 1954).

1. The event was first played in 1946.

2. Betsy Rawls and Mickey Wright have the most US Women’s Open titles with 4 each.

3. Juli Inkster holds the 72 hole record with her -16 in 1999. What makes this even more impressive is that the winner in 1998 had won with a final tournament score of +6.

4. Inbee Park is the youngest winner (19 years old) with her win in 2008.

5. The event has seen winners from Australia, Sweden, Phillippines, France, Uruguay, Thailand, and more.
