| Out of the UK rave and breakbeat scenes of the early 1990s rose jungle and DnB, a new form of edgy, boundary-pushing dance music. While the genre and its associated scenes have had their peaks and valleys, one constant is the dance music underground, which has always embraced the movement. In the new millennium, cutting-edge DJs and producers including Pendulum, Sub Focus, and High Contrast were among those pushing things forward through the Aughts. Today, DJ/producers such as Tim Reaper and Nia Archives and a new generation of innovators have been injecting new energy, and crossover bangers from Charlotte Plank and Waypoint have been delivering the sound to dancefloors worldwide. We’ve compiled a collection of jungle/DnB tracks by a range of artists who are carrying this underground style into new spaces. |
