We’re finally widening I-10!
Dear Peter,
I’ve got great news: thanks to my bipartisan infrastructure law, we’re delivering funds to finally widen I-10! This long overdue investment increases efficiency, reduces traffic, and enhances safety – all while creating good-paying jobs and boosting economic opportunities.
When I wrote the bipartisan infrastructure law, I was laser focused on investments that actually make a difference in the lives of Arizonans – and that’s exactly what the investments to improve I-10 will do.

Like so many Arizonans, I’ve spent countless hours in traffic on I-10.
Interstate 10 moves tens of millions of people and over $40 billion in goods every year. Thousands of Arizonans rely on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson every day to get to work, school, appointments, see their loved ones, and much more.
Unfortunately, as too many of us know, I-10 can also be dangerous with daily bottlenecks causing repeated, and often deadly, accidents.
That’s why I’m so proud to deliver $95 million to widen I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson from a two-lane to a three-lane freeway and finish improvements to the 26-mile stretch that runs through the Gila River Indian Community – one of the largest investments in transportation infrastructure for a tribal community.
But don’t just take it from me – Gila River Indian Community Governor Stephen Roe Lewis knows how big of a deal this is for the Tribe and our entire state.
“Funding for this grant to improve the 26-mile stretch of the I-10 that runs through the Gila River Indian Community would not have been realized without the tireless effort of Senators Sinema and Kelly. Over the past year, Senators Sinema and Kelly took every opportunity to educate the Administration about the critical need to improve this portion of the State’s infrastructure to increase safety for all Community Members, Arizonans and visitors who travel on this integral part of the State’s infrastructure network. I value the respect and partnership that Senator Sinema and Senator Kelly showed to the Community in achieving this crucial funding,” said Governor Stephen Roe Lewis, Gila River Indian Community.
We’re incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with Governor Lewis in delivering this win for all of Arizona.
I promised Arizonans I’d do the hard work to deliver real results, not lip service – this investment is one of many more to come for Arizona from my bipartisan infrastructure law.
Stay Tuned.
Sincerely,
Kyrsten Sinema
