Brown eyes are the most common eye color in humans, found in approximately 79% of the global population. This rich and warm hue is created by the presence of melanin in the iris, the part of the eye that controls the amount of light that enters. While it may seem commonplace, brown eyes are actually incredibly complex and can range in shade from deep chocolate to amber to hazel. Interestingly, researchers believe that all humans originally had brown eyes, and that other eye colors, such as blue and green, are actually mutations that occurred over time.
