This group believes the biggest potential of the Metaverse lies not in gaming, but in the industries that make up the backbones of our economies – manufacturing, infrastructure, transportation, and more. The ‘Industrial Metaverse’ is a virtual place where everything in the physical world has a ‘digital twin’ so it can be optimized virtually before it’s shipped to the real world and can then be managed remotely. This digital world can manage time, simulate airflow, monitor temperature, and more. This new paradigm combines the digital twin concept, software-defined automation, AI and Big Data. Over 2000 Terabytes of data are generated by an automated factory per month (around 500k movies worth). All this data will be tracked and displayed in the metaverse in real time using immersive AI displays. Siemens believes ‘The future is all about collaboration’ so this vision includes the following major partnerships:
Digital Twin technology is the latest in a series of advancements that have been accelerating over the past year and have only become accessible to wider audiences recently with the wide availability of NLP. Other companies are leveraging this technology for automotive development and design including BMW and INDY Autonomous Challenge (IAC) who are back for a 3rd year at CES. IAC is breaking boundaries with its fully autonomous racecar competitions contended by teams affiliated with 17 global universities and leverages D Space and NVIDIA to create their synthetic environment.
