Last Week This Morning: Insulin capped at $35
Good morning, Rj! Happy Sunday! ☀️
Insulin capped at $35. The price of insulin will now be capped at $35 a month for most Americans. This move comes as a result of pressure from the Biden Administration, which lowered the cost for Medicare recipients last year under the Inflation Reduction Act. In recent years, insulin prices have soared as greedy pharmaceutical companies have raked in record-breaking profits, and Americans have been forced to pay more for insulin than dozens of countries.
Hobbs ready to take action on vouchers. Last week, Gov. Hobbs announced new proposals to reform Arizona’s out-of-control expanded voucher system this legislative session. The plan includes important measures to bring accountability and transparency to the program, ensuring that any private school receiving taxpayer funds meets standards for safety and quality of education. While these guardrails should be a bare minimum, leaders in the Republican-majority #AZLEG are already opposing it, calling the common sense proposals “unserious”. But Hobb’s plan has popular support from Arizonans, and we’re counting on her to stand up to extremists, like Speaker Ben Toma, this session.
#J6 anniversary. Three years ago on Janaury 6th, 2021, right wing extremists engaged in a criminal conspiracy to try to overturn the will of the people in the 2020 election. As a result of their lies, 2,000+ rioters looted & vandalized the U.S. Capitol, causing 5 deaths. MAGA extremist lawmakers backed #J6 organizers and refused to investigate the attack. To this day, many are still in office, fueling election denial conspiracy theoriesand trying to make it harder for Americans to pick our own leaders. Let’s use this anniversary to hold Arizona’s conspirators accountable and commit to rejecting fascists and fake electors this year!
