The announcement comes days before he goes on trial in civilian court for misusing funds from the non-profit organization. Along with other current and former NRA leaders, the lawsuit alleges LaPierre illegally diverted millions to fund a lavish lifestyle.
NY AG Requests Fine, Ban for Donald Trump
New York Attorney General Letitia James is calling for a $370 million fine and a lifetime ban from real estate dealings in the state for former President Trump. This comes as a post-trial motion in Trump’s fraud case which found him, along with other top executives, liable for inflating financial gains to acquire better loans.
Trump has repeatedly called the trial a “witch hunt” and plans to appeal. Meanwhile, his attorneys filed a motion Friday claiming that the case against Trump lacks proper evidence.
Trump’s sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, along with CFO Allen Howard Weisselberg and former executive Jeff McConney, were also included in the motion with calls for similar real estate bans.
Maj. General Pat Ryan said the airstrike was an act of self-defense for U.S. military personnel in the region, as they have been targeted by Iranian-backed militia in Iraq with increased frequency since the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
Iraqi officials denounced the attack and claimed it escalated tensions in the region, especially given the attack was near a security headquarters, as they claim. U.S. officials said the strike hit a vehicle carrying the militia leader (and others) but insisted that no civilians were harmed in the attack.
