Henry Kissinger Dead at 100
Henry Kissinger died yesterday at his home in Connecticut.
Born in Germany, he fled the Nazis with his family and arrived in America in 1938. After serving in the U.S. military during WW2 and completing his education at Harvard, he became an extremely influential diplomat, serving as national security advisor to President Nixon and winning the Nobel Peace Prize for negotiating the Paris Peace Accords.
Later, he became Secretary of State, an office he maintained in the Ford administration. Kissinger played a major role in improving America’s relationships with China and the Soviet Union, along with a host of other diplomatic endeavors.
He’s survived by his wife and two children.
DeSantis, Newsom Argue It Out Tonight
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis faces off tonight against California Gov. Gavin Newsom in a unique debate between two politicians who personify the Blue State/Red State divide on every important issue.
The debate will be hosted on Fox News by Sean Hannity without the formality of the primary debates. For DeSantis, the goal is to energize his presidential bona fides. For Newsom, it’s a chance to build his national reputation.
For political observers, the debate is a chance to hear from two state leaders trying out very different policies. “This is the debatewe should be having,” proclaimed the Washington Examiner.
Tiger Woods Says He’s Ready to Play
Tiger Woods tees off today in his first professional golf outing since he was unable to complete the third round at the Masters tournament in April. Woods says the intense pain in his reconstructed right ankle and foot is gone.
Woods will tee off at 11:52 a.m. ET, partnered with his friend Justin Thomas. The Hero World Challenge features only 20 ranked golfers. Woods, historically a favorite in any tournament, goes in at 80-1 odds.
Viktor Hovland has won the tournament the last two years and is the favorite again this year at 4-1 odds. Here’s the TV schedule for the weekend, and here’s a clip of Woods teeing off at Wednesday’s pro-am round.
