On Monday, a federal appeals court hinted that it will partially approve President Trump’s request to lift his gag order in relation to Jack Smith’s election interference litigation.
After Chutkan issued the gag order last month, Trump’s attorneys have been opposing it ever since.
Regarding Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order, President Trump submitted an appeal brief earlier this month. Chutkan’s gag order, according to Trump, is sweeping, ambiguous, and a violation of his First Amendment rights.
During Monday’s oral arguments, the three-judge DC Circuit Court of Appeals panel — two Obama appointees and one Biden appointee — criticized Judge Chutkan’s gag order and discussed whether to strike it down or narrow it.
