We’ve had some great Starlight single barrels this year, but there is just something beautiful about a well done small batch. For one, there are balances and complexities that sometimes get missed in the uniqueness of a single barrel, and two this allows producers to sometimes include older stock than what we may see in a single barrel offering. Both of these are true in today’s releases. Not only that, but it can be difficult to find other retailers carrying these bottles outside of the Starlight Gift Shop, so we are excited to be offering them here.
First up is a 4.5 – 6.5 year small batch blend of Carl T. Bourbon with two distinct mash bills. This blend was transferred into new Amburana Brazilian oak barrels for additional aging that provides the intense sweet vanilla flavor, baking spice, and cigar box notes folks have come to love.
Nose: Marshmallows, underripe banana peel, ground baking spices, and brown sugar.
Palate: Singed marshmallows, graham cracker, campfire smoke, baking spices, underripe tropical fruits, leather, and hints of raw cacao.
Finish: Long chocolatey and smoky finish.
Secondly we have a 6 year toasted, double oaked bourbon finished in brand new American and French Oak toasted barrels from 4-9 months.
Nose: vanilla extract, caramel, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, wafts of orange oil.
Palate: Tannins, ground baking spices, new leather, hints of tobacco leaf, and dark chocolate.
Finish: Long leathery finish with hints of cherry skin.
