I know, we’re the home “craft” whiskey. Maker’s Mark doesn’t make our criteria for Seelbach’s. But, there’s always room for exceptions when it comes to good whiskey! These barrels were selected by the West Point Class of 1983. They’ve been a great group to work with. As a part of our deal we worked out an allocation for Seelbach’s members. Since this is typically not a pick we have access to I thought this would be a nice change of pace. I know a lot of you have requested Masker’s Mark selections in the past. It helps that the bourbon is fantastic. I hope you enjoy something a little more mainstream and grab a bottle from these barrels.
These two picks are really interesting. They’re supposed to be a mirror of each other. It’s the same blend of bourbon. The same stave combo aged for an additional 9-weeks. But, at the end of those 9-weeks one barrel was 1 proof point less and had an additional six bottles in it! There are noticeable differences in the taste profiles as well. Because of that we’ve added our “Seelbach’s” tasting notes as well.
