Although Benjamin Franklin is often considered one of the founding fathers of the United States, his face is noticeably absent from Mount Rushmore. Despite his contributions to American history, Franklin was not a president and therefore did not meet the criteria for being included on the monument. However, Franklin’s legacy lives on through his inventions, writings, and political achievements such as the Albany Plan of Union and his role in negotiating the Treaty of Paris that ended the Revolutionary War.
