Today is Poll Worker Recruitment Day—a national day of action to recruit poll workers to ensure our elections run smoothly. All On The Line is proud to partner with Power the Polls to mobilize our community to sign up as poll workers.
“Poll workers help keep our democracy alive by making sure elections run smoothly and voters can safely exercise their right to vote.” – President Obama
As a poll worker, you help ensure a safe, fair, efficient election for all voters. Poll workers support early voting locations, ensure technology functions, and help minimize delays at polling places on election day. Poll worker shortages can cause long lines and polling location closures, leading to voter disenfranchisement, especially in communities of color and low income communities.
In the coming weeks, Power the Polls will provide you with more information about the application process and what to expect when you become a poll worker. Follow-up on your application will come from your local election administrator.
In the meantime, join us tonight, August 23rd, for our National Poll Worker Recruitment Day Celebration.
