Chubb just became the first American insurance company to explicitly state in its policy that it won’t insure drilling projects in the Arctic Refuge.
To say this is HUGE news is an understatement. Drilling in the Arctic is bad business, plain and simple: 17 international insurers and every major U.S. bank have already made the call to stop financing or insuring drilling on this sacred land. And we’re not stopping there.
To continue this momentum, halt additional projects that drive climate change, and support local communities, we need more American insurance companies to stop covering drilling projects in the Arctic Refuge. Decisions about these lands must be aligned with the well-being of the people who live on them and the need to address climate change—NOT oil and gas executives’ bottom line.
Thank you,
