Gosar Votes to Raise the Federal Debt Ceiling While Tackling Spending
This week, I voted toraise the debt ceiling with the conditions outlined in the Limit, Save, and Grow Act.This legislationaddresses the debt ceiling in a fiscally responsible manner while tackling excessive federal spending that has driven inflation to historic highs and crippled our economy. Sadly, not one democrat in the House of Representatives voted to reduce spending. This insane spending spree has got to be tempered. It is long past time for democrats and Joe Biden to recognize that American families are hurting from years of reckless deficit spending.
Gosar Demands Full Accounting of Taxpayer Dollars Spent on COVID-19
Did you know that by law, Joe Biden is supposed to provide members of congress a full reporting of every dollar spent on the COVID-19 pandemic?
It’s true. But he hasn’t. Ever. According to 50 U.S.C. § 1641(c) Mr. Biden must transmit to Congress, within ninety days after the end of each six-month period when a national emergency is declared, a report on the total expenditures incurred by the United States Government during such six-month period which are directly attributable to the exercise of powers and authorities conferred by such declaration.
As of today, the Biden administration has missed every deadline and has failed to report the expenditures of even one dime. In a nutshell, Joe Biden is breaking the law by failing to provide any expenditure reports to Congress related to the COVID-19 national emergency declaration.
In response, this week, I sent abicameral letter to Joe Biden and Treasury Secretary Yellen, requesting an expenditure report related to the COVID-19 National Emergency Declaration, as required by law.

Gosar Pays Tribute to Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir
This week, I had the honor to attend a celebration recognizing the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel and to introduce legislation authorizing the United States Mint issue a coin honoring Israel’s fourth Prime Minister, Golda Meir. The Golda Meir Commemorative Coin Celebration commemorated the unique relationship that Golda Meir had with the United States and successive U.S. presidents.
I spoke at the celebration and provide below the unedited remarks:
Happy 75th Birthday Israel!
Out of Israeli independence came the U.S.
-Israeli relationship.
It is one of our most enduring alliances and one of the most important ones.
I trust that we remain allies and friends forever.
Golda Meir, the fourth prime minister of Israel, was instrumental in establishing the United States as a trusted ally of Israel.
Perhaps her 15 years in the United States helped form her positive view of the U.S.
She is now a legendary figure and one of Israel’s, and indeed the world’s, most effective leaders.
Her leadership, strategic vision and diplomatic abilities fostered stronger bonds between the United States and Israel, which continue to benefit both countries today.
For more than seven decades, the United States and Israel have maintained a strong, mutually beneficial relationship, anchored on a shared set of values and interests.
The United States will be forever grateful for the crucial role Golda Meir played in shaping our countries.
I am a proud to support HR 987 as a fitting and long, overdue recognition of Golda Meir’s contributions while honoring her life and legacy through this commemorative coin.
Congress Recognizes Importance of U.S.-Israeli Relationship
Congress this week overwhelmingly passed a resolutionacknowledging the importance of the U.S.-Israeli relationship. This resolution stated that it “encourages the United States and Israel to continue to deepen and expand its bilateral cooperation across the full spectrum of economic, security and civilian issues”; and “encourages the expansion and strengthening of the Abraham Accords to urge other nations to normalize relations with Israel and ensure that existing agreements reap tangible security and economic benefits for all the citizens of those countries and all peoples in the region” among other issues. While the legislation passed almost unanimously, 18 democrats, including many known antisemites, voted against this simple resolution.
In response, this week I cosponsored H.R. 2928, the Responsible Borrowers Protection Act. This legislation would block the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA)’s increased Loan-Level Price Adjustment (LLPA) fees on mortgage borrowers with higher credit scores. We will do our best to reverse the daily effort of the democrats who undermine this country. The legislation may be read here.
IRS Now Hiring Agents Who Are Willing to Immediately Use “Deadly Force” Against Taxpayers
An ominous ad paid for by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) states it is looking to hire “gun-carrying agents in all 50 states.” Moreover, the IRS says it wants to hire people who are willing, if not excited, to shoot and kill fellow citizens. Under the “Major Duties” section of the job description, applicants are notified they “must be willing to use force up to and including the use of deadly force.”
Make no mistake, the Biden regime despises those who work and support their families. If you make an error on your tax form, be prepared for armed agents to show up, agents who are willing to shoot you if you look at them sideways.
This is the same IRS that sent an armed thug to harass journalist Matt Taibbi last month. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter to IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen seeking an explanation why journalist Matt Taibbi received an unannounced home visit from an armed IRS agent. Mr. Taibbi was the journalist who made Democrats and journalists upset for exposing the illegal and unconstitutional coordination between the Biden regime and media to censor conservatives and dissenting voices, particularly on Twitter.
You’ll remember that the IRS was used by Barack Obama to censor and suppress political opposition. Lois Lerner, an IRS agent, conspired with Obama to suppress Tea Party groups and prevented them from participating in the 2012 election. In October 2017, the Trump Administration settled lawsuits filed by more than four hundred conservative nonprofit groups who claimed that they had been discriminated against by the IRS under Obama. The Trump Administration also settled another lawsuit brought by forty-one conservative organizations and obtained an apology with a full admission of guilt from the IRS that it knowingly, intentionally and wrongfully targeted conservatives to “heightened scrutiny and inordinate delays.”
The Department of Defense Fails Another Audit
This week, I also co-sponsored H.R. 2961, a bipartisan bill to fully audit the Department of Defense. This federal agency has failed the last five audits in a row. We trust this agency with trillions of dollars, and they are unable to complete and pass a financial audit. According to a recent GAO report, the Department of Defense continues to be unable to account for hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of assets. As Members of Congress, we have a responsibility to hold the only federal agency to ever fail an audit accountable. I am working to ensure that the Pentagon is held to the same standard as all other federal agencies who are required by law to pass an independent external audit each year.
It’s Mail Time!
As the month of April winds down, I received over 6,200 letters from constituents. Here’s a small sample of the letters I received just this week:
Cheryl A. from Mohave Valley writes:
I’m first going to tell you that I’m sorry that you will be getting the blunt of this letter but as an American citizen, I’m tired of all this. I need to know that in the Constitution that a President must abide by the law of the Constitution and if he doesn’t, he is abusing his power, which should lead to impeachment. Biden has done more illegal acts against the US citizens and he should have been impeached a year ago. No President should have this much power. This isn’t a dictatorship, it’s a democracy and with that, Congress should be demanding for his removal. When Trump was in office, that man couldn’t breathe without getting impeached and with Biden, he walks all over Congress, who represents us, and gets NOTHING. Apparently writing letters to that man and his handlers aren’t working. Stop pussyfooting around and stop doing the same thing expecting a different result. It’s time ALL Congressman get together and STOP this man. He has made us the laughingstock of the world, he has kissed ass with Ukraine, bowed to China, screwed the Afghanis, continuously thrown the American citizen under the bus, allowed unwanted people in our country and, the worst part of it all he, is still in this position and eating his flipping ice cream. I was never much into politics until Trump started showing the American people how corrupt our leaders are. How can we as Americans, who put all you in to protect us, get the results we want? WE WANT BIDEN charged and convicted of treason. Congress needs to do the job they were elected to do and put a stop to this madman (and his handlers) or we will all become a socialist country. I, for one, don’t want to leave this world to my children and grandchildren in this state of chaos. Do you?
Dear Cheryl, first, your directness is appreciated. Second, you speak for millions, and for me when you speak the truth like this. Trump was literally impeached because he phoned the Ukrainian puppet Obama installed in a coup. A mere phone call, and they impeached him. He simply asked the government to look into the open corruption of the Biden’s getting millions in dollars of bribes from Ukraine. Is it any wonder today the democrats and some shameful Republicans fall over themselves to send our tax money to Ukraine? This country is laundering money on behalf of the democrats. Just recently we learned another $400 million of your tax dollars was stolen by the Ukraine regime. Check out this timeline:
Cheryl, our leadership did not want to start the year off with impeachment hearings. The leftist media would hammer Mr. McCarthy relentlessly and accuse us of ignoring the country, etc. But I believe we will get to impeachment hearings by the end of the year. All your points about Biden’s violation of the law and his duties are substantiated.
Lisa F. from Kingman is concerned about Biden’s latest home mortgage scam:
Thank you for doing such a great job and thank you for producing your newsletter each week. I am writing in hopes that you can give me an answer. Is there anything I can do to stop the increase of my mortgage payment? I work hard and I just did everything I could to get my mortgage down to where I can afford it. I have great credit. Now, my payment will go up again. With food, gas, utilities all on the rise, I soon will not have good credit. Should I just let everything go or should I keep treading water trying to stay afloat? If there is anything I can do to stop this ridiculousness, please let me know. I work in the homeless/poverty arena. I know there are many programs to assist folks in this category with housing. Perhaps the same opportunities should be offered to the middle class by the government, the same entity that offers help to homeless and poverty level citizens. I would prefer my taxes go for that instead of abortions, transgender propaganda and illegal immigration. I am sure you feel the same way. I guess I am just looking for a way to make a difference. I feel helpless. I thank the Lord for you. God bless you.
Lisa, I believe there will be a court case to challenge this new tax. Congress is the only entity that can implement new taxes. We did not vote to increase taxes on people with good credit. I believe this tax is unconstitutional and immoral. Punishing hard-working, responsible homeowners and rewarding low-life deadbeats who don’t pay their bills is the action of an immoral government. You work hard, as do many of us, and you make sure your bills are paid. Why should you now support losers who don’t care about paying their bills? Do not let go. Do not give up. We will reverse this nonsense. It may take another term of President Trump, but we will not let this insanity stand.
George G. from Apache Junction jests:
When your last newsletter said the Biden regime remains as the most immoral administration in our history, I am offended. C’mon now, they are not that good! I just want to ask liberals about the Biden “Build Back Better” plan. I wonder if they can name five things that the Biden bunch has built back better…how about one? Thank you so much for your good work, and may God grant you triple what you do for us.
Thank you, George. Perhaps there has been a more immoral administration. The FDR administration did a lot of shady things and openly embraced socialism. Obama, of course, set this country on a crash course we are still struggling to contain. I can’t think of one positive accomplishment from the Biden administration. I really can’t. I ask our readers, Republicans and democrats alike, to write me a letter with just one or two positive accomplishments from this administration. Crime is rampant. Inflation is rampant and the economy is the worst it’s been since the Carter administration. Supply chains continue to be intermittent. Depravity and child sex grooming are expanding and the effort to chemically castrate children and mutilate them permanently is growing. Our military is unprepared and led by incompetents like General Milley. We lost a humiliating defeat in Afghanistan. Unconstitutional efforts to censor opposing views, deprive people of their constitutional right to self-defense and a general disregard for the rights of citizens and free media is being pursued with vigor. The DOJ and FBI have been turned into brown shirts for the democrat party. We have people who did nothing more than trespass on federal property (most of whom had no idea there was a magic invisible line on the ground they crossed) being sentenced to jail as felons with years of prison. The border is open and people who literally cross a well-marked border are welcomed here by Biden, and Biden uses our tax money – not appropriated by Congress, to house, feed, provide medical care, transportation and monthly welfare to illegal aliens: over six million and counting. We have a literal invasion of our country and our military, whose sole job it is to protect our borders, remains uninvolved here but is gung-ho to start a world war in Ukraine. Americans are suffering with paltry social security payments but this administration has sent nearly $200 billion to Ukraine.
Kathryn B. from Peoria shares a different view:
I understand that you are a member of the Freedom Caucus and all that entails however, your newsletters are too incendiary. Calling an administration a “regime” is an insult to voters and to our Constitution. Perhaps you should talk more about what you support and what you’re proud of instead of building anger and fear.
Kathryn, prior to President Trump even being sworn into office, the democrats promised to impeach him and they called him an illegitimate president. In 2017, his first year in office, democrats publicly pledged to refer to his administration as the “Trump Regime.” See “Don’t Call it the Trump administration. Call it a regime.” It was a coordinated effort and I don’t recall you ever writing me to complain then. I will continue to refer to Biden as the “Biden Regime.” His questionable election, and his incompetent and malicious administration, has well-earned this moniker. If he acts in the best interests of the country, just once, I might change my mind.
