Fresh kicks: The power of a sneaker may make you a better baller, at least according to Like Mike, The Sandlot, and now Air. Sneakers have moved beyond sport and into culture, emerging in the late 70s and early 80s with the iconic black-and-white Adidas Samba, and then by the debut of Air Jordans. It’s now part of who we are as a society. (Pictured above, sneakers lined up in a ”front room,” a point of pride in some Black British households.)
