Gosar Reintroduces Federal Death Penalty Legislation to Combat the Fentanyl Crisis
This week, I reintroduced H.R. 1212, the Death Penalty for Dealing Fentanyl Act, legislation that would punish a defendant with the death penalty or life in prison if convicted of selling or distributing fentanyl that resulted in death.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 196 Americans are dying each day from fentanyl, and more than 2,000 pounds of the deadly drug pour across our open southern border every month. 106,699 people died from fentanyl overdoses in 2021, making it the leading cause of death for individuals18-35 years old. Meanwhile, Joe Biden does nothing to close the border or penalize the drug cartels and others known to be trafficking deadly drugs.
We must get tough on those criminals that are contributing to this drug crisis. My legislation would punish anyone who knowingly traffics fentanyl with the death penalty or life in prison.
You’re Invited: Gosar Hosts Roundtable on Water, Desalination and the Future of Arizona
Arizona, like many Western states, has experienced years of drought conditions. While Arizona has an incredible dam and irrigation system that has brought life to the desert, we face a future that needs more water.
The lack of water potentially threatens our agricultural industry, our housing, our recreation and the ability of Arizonans to fully enjoy life here.
The United States has enough water to satisfy the needs of the entire country. It is a matter of utilizing technology to wisely divert the enormous amount of water this country is blessed with. Together, government and the private sector can work to find the solutions that advance policies that help Arizonans and all Americans to access this most precious resource.
I’d like to hear your views and invite you to please join me for an important roundtable discussion to explore solutions to fix this growing problem. Here are the details:
Because space is limited, you must first RSVP to Penny Pew at penny.pew@mail.house.gov. The address will be provided upon your RSVP. I look forward to seeing you at the roundtable.

McCarthy Keeps Key Promise – Releases 40,000 Hours of J6 Video
For two years, Nancy Pelosi and her democrats hid almost all the key video footage of the January 6thriot. The so-called J6 Committee pretended to investigate the matter but in truth it was very selective on the witnesses and evidence it considered, since it started with a conclusion: that President Trump, Lauren Boebert, Andy Biggs and I, planned and started this riot. The democrat failed committee could not even establish evidence, after two years, to support their defamatory conclusion.
Of course, the truth was, not only did we not know about the potential for violence, Nancy Pelosi and the Capitol Police in fact had advance warning that violent fascists like Antifa, elements from Black Lives Matter and other miscreants, planned violence. In addition, we know now that elements of the capitol police acted negligently and, in some cases, unprofessionally and violently without cause. Pelosi and her henchmen never warned the rest of us about the potential violent actors they knew would be there and exposed members of Congress to potential harm.
In response to the democrat cover-up and lies about J6, Congressman McCarthy promised America that if he became Speaker of the House, he would make sure Americans learned the truth. Part of that promise was releasing all the J6 footage. For two years Pelosi and the democrats lied to Americans and claimed they were hiding 14,000 hours of security video footage (which was immoral by itself). It turns out, they were hiding over 40,000 hours of evidence. Ask yourself why they did not want America to see the truth? What were they hiding? Speaker McCarthy and I do not fear the truth. This week, Speaker McCarthy honored his promise to release the truth to the American public. As described:
“Carlson, Fox’s wildly popular conservative pundit, said last week that he would begin airing footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot this week, after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) offered him what Carlson described as “unfettered” exclusive access to more than 40,000 hours of unreleased surveillance tape starting earlier in the month.
“It’s many more hours of tape than we were ever told. They said at the beginning it was like, 14,000 hours. There’s roughly almost 42,000 hours. We’re working through that. We work with the Capitol Police as well, so we’ll make sure security is taken care of,” McCarthy told reporters.
An Update on Ukraine
While our Southern border remains wide open, and close to six million illegal aliens walked across our completely unsecured border in the last two years, the Biden regime continues its frantic and hysterical path to start World War III. Another clown in the Biden administration, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, arrogantly demanded that American taxpayers endlessly fund Ukraine and its war, including payment to its retirees and pensions. With no irony, Yellen claimed it was a “moral” duty to fund this war and kill people. The moral duty is to strive for peace. The immoral position is to belligerently demand more money from U.S. taxpayers to pay for Zelenskyy’s war against Russia.
The Chinese government, following in my footsteps, has called for peace negotiations before a nuclear world war breaks out between the United States and Russia. China detailed a 12 point cease fire plan that would lead to peace talks. The Chinese government is showing common sense and helping the world avoid a potential nuclear war between the United States and Russia. We need more countries demanding peace and bringing an end to this war.
China and India Partner with Russia Against the United States
India has also asked for peace negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. India continues to buy Russian oil and strengthen its relationship with Russia. Biden’s reckless actions are creating a situation where India, China and other countries work on creating an alliance, including an economic alliance, that could devalue the dollar and hurt our global standing.
“Last June, the Navy divers, operating under the cover of a widely publicized mid-summer NATO exercise known as BALTOPS 22, planted the remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, according to a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning. Two of the pipelines, which were known collectively as Nord Stream 1, had been providing Germany and much of Western Europe with cheap Russian natural gas for more than a decade. A second pair of pipelines, called Nord Stream 2, had been built but were not yet operational. Now, with Russian troops massing on the Ukrainian border and the bloodiest war in Europe since 1945 looming, President Joseph Biden saw the pipelines as a vehicle for Vladimir Putin to weaponize natural gas for his political and territorial ambitions.”
I have been consistent from the outset. The United States has no business in a war against Russia and spending hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ money. We have no business propping up Ukraine, one of the most corrupt and authoritarian regimes in the world. If Mr. Hersh is correct, and he has a lengthy career of respectable journalism, this would constitute an act of war and endangers all of us. Russia would have the right to retaliate if not escalate directly against us, for example, by bombing the Alaska pipeline. I can tell you directly that we have not debated this in Congress. We did not authorize acts of war against Russia. We did not authorize military attacks on Russian infrastructure. This is a dangerous escalation that could imperial our country. The Biden regime is not authorized to engage in these rogue acts that could bring devasting consequences to us.
In testimony to the United Nations, Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs, said “he is a specialist in the global economy and represents no Government or organization in his testimony. As the destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines on 26 September 2022 constitutes an act of international terrorism and represents a threat to peace, it is the Council’s responsibility to take up the question of who might have carried out the act, help bring the perpetrator to justice, pursue compensation for the damaged parties and prevent such actions from recurring in the future. Noting the vast economic losses related to the pipeline itself and the heightened threat to transboundary infrastructure, he pointed out that the global transformation to green energy will require considerable infrastructure of that sort. Countries need full confidence that their infrastructure will not be destroyed by third parties.
Admittedly, this week’s newsletter is a bit longer to read than normal but I wanted to make sure I included a few of the letters I received this week:
Dr. Stan S. shared his gratitude for the recent assistance he received from my office:
A good day yesterday! Treasury Direct finally transferred the I-Bond to my daughter after 16 weeks of sitting on receiving the request. THANKS TO YOU!
Paul was right in suggesting that I contact you. He is a class act, and we are grateful to have him as our representative. He obviously has an excellent supporting staff that he can count on. Unfortunately, he is one of few in DC, looking out for the people and the country.
Thanks again for your help!
Thanks, Stan. We are grateful to be able to assist and thrilled to hear it worked out for you.
If anyone reading the Gosar Newsletter needs help with a federal agency, please contact my District Director, Penny Pew, at penny.pew@mail.house.gov.
In contrast to Dr. Stan’s thoughtful letter, Betsy M. wrote the following:
FU
Betsy M. writes in with a typical leftist thoughtful comment: “FU.” No Betsy, leave your sexual harassment and anger back at the tranny story-telling hour. I will soldier on with God, Jesus and the good American people by my side.
